03 Feb Review: BareMinerals BareSkin Foundation
I am already quite a big fan of BareMinerals, after using the Complexion Rescue I realised that the majority of their products really give off such a gentle, natural finish. The Complexion Rescue is perfect for a light makeup look, and also for those who don’t like a lot of coverage, however, I decided that it’s nice to have a foundation spare for when you want to do a full makeup look.
A little backstory on the foundations I’ve used (I haven’t used many), before I went cruelty-free and vegan, I used MAC Studio Fix, and before that, I only tried a few drugstore foundations. I can safely say that the BareSkin foundation is the best I have ever used, and it’s going to be difficult to convert me!
Designed to feel weightless and look flawless.
All of this goodness is just part of a liquid foundation that provides customisable coverage by the drop with a natural finish.
It’s packed with vitamin C, antioxidants, has the added protection of non-chemical SPF 20, and it’s made without oil, silicone, parabens or fragrance.
Application, Finish and, Lasting Power
The application was very easy with my damp beauty blender, and I didn’t need to build on the first layer at all because 4 drops was just the right amount of coverage. A little bit went quite a long way, and so I feel as if this foundation is going to last a long time. (I’ll update this blog post when I finish it.)
It really is such a weightless finish; it’s so much lighter than any other foundation I have tried. I’m so impressed with how dewy and brightening it is; I’ve never found a product that achieves this on my dull and dry skin.
The only issue I’ve had with this foundation is that it still manages to go flaky on my nose area immediately, but this always happens to me. I can only assume that it’s something that I’m doing wrong.
This foundation, paired with my E.L.F mineral face primer and Urban Decay setting spray has great staying power, but unfortunately, did not withstand the ‘nightclub test’. But I honestly do not think any foundation has the power to withstand the test of staying on my sweaty face at a nightclub.
Due to it being such a watery formula BareMinerals has a uniquely designed brush for this foundation, you can find it here. I personally have not purchased the brush, as I’m not sure how necessary it is. I’m quite glad I didn’t purchase it as I have seen a lot of people mentioning that the bristles fall off easily. I have been using my beauty blender and that’s been working just fine.
Overall, the foundation has really lived up to expectations. I feel so airbrushed once I’ve applied it. It evens out my complexion a lot more, and it’s incredibly brightening – who wouldn’t love a product that can brighten your skin?! I would totally recommend this to anyone with dry skin who always wants to achieve that natural, dewy look, but also wants a good amount of coverage. Just remember to shake the bottle loads before you apply it otherwise the formula will look patchy on your skin!
